What we do not collect, and do not want to collect

We will not collect any data about:

• your name, specific location, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other identifying information
• individual readers' reading habits.
• information related to your browser, your browsing history, your activity elsewhere on the web, or your purchasing habits.

In short, we will not create a personal dossier on individual users or groups of users. We're simply not interested.

Here's what we will collect

If - and only if - you give to consent to analytics collection, we will collect the following information, purely for the purposes of internal analytics; that means information on what readers engage with as a whole, and how they engage with it. This helps us steer our content to bring readers more of what they want.

• Information on what topics get viewed, as well as what articles within each topic.
• Whether an article held your attention. We call this reader retention, and it helps us understand whether we're writing interesting stuff.
• In a broad way, where the reader came to the website from (Search Engine, directly, etc)
• The only piece of identifying information we collect is the country that the site traffic originated from. We don't collect any more granular geolocational data than that; that means no state or province, no city, no neighborhood.

Why we collect this information

Armed with this data, our internal analytics page will collect this information and present it to the team in a readable way, showing us:

• reading trends on the site
• which articles and topics are the most engaging to our audience
• which countries' audiences enjoy our content and which ones we haven't resonated with yet

All this information is used for the singular purpose of improving our editorial content for our audience.

How analytics work

When you first visit the site, we ask whether you want to allow anonymous analytics. If you choose no, we do not track what you read, how far you scroll, your referrer, or your country.

If you allow anonymous analytics, we track general information about which topics and articles are viewed and whether readers engage with them. We combine this information into anonymous totals. We do not store reader identities or personal reading histories on our server.

Your browser stores your analytics choice and enough anonymous reading information to prevent the same articles from being counted repeatedly. This information stays on your device until you clear NoGameOvers site data.

We also count how many people allow or decline analytics each day. That consent count is only a daily total and is not tied to what anyone reads.

Cookies and third parties

NoGameOvers does not use third-party analytics cookies or third-party analytics scripts for this traffic tracking.

What gets stored on your device

• ngo-anonymous-analytics: stored in your browser's local storage so we remember whether you chose "allowed" or "declined" and do not ask you on every page. This stays on your device until you clear site data or change your browser storage.
• Anonymous reading information: stored in your browser after you allow analytics so the same articles are not counted repeatedly. This information stays on your device until you clear NoGameOvers site data.
• ngo-header-phrase: a first-party cookie used only to keep the rotating header phrase stable while you browse, instead of changing randomly on every page. This cookie lasts for one day.
• ngo-how-it-works-seen: a first-party marker used only to remember that your browser has already seen the "How It Works" explanation, so it does not pop up on every visit. It is stored as a cookie when possible, with local browser storage as a fallback. This marker lasts up to one year or until you clear cookies and site data.

None of these markers are used to identify you personally or build a profile about you.

External embeds

If an article contains an external embed, such as a video or social post, we aim to load it in a privacy-conscious way and avoid unnecessary tracking wherever possible. Third-party services may still have their own privacy behavior once their content is loaded.
