Sony's June 2026 State of Play broadcast aired today, and with it came numerous updates and announcements about the upcoming PlayStation slate. Here's what got shown off and announced.
Marvel's Wolverine
Starting off with a bloody bang, Marvel's Wolverine showed off some very on-brand ultra violence in North Vancouver. There, he runs into Jean Grey (sporting an outfit very similar to her 2000's era movie look), and they take the fight to some cybernetically enhanced soldiers to rescue some Mutants. Being from Vancouver myself, this whole sequence and the Sea to Sky Highway battle that followed really resonated with me; the environment is incredibly authentic. Preorders are available now, and the game releases September 15, 2026.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls
Another fine showing for Marvel Tokon. I'm not a fighter guy myself, but I am a Marvel guy, and I love the Japanese take on these characters. Of special note is Doctor Doom being voiced by Sungwon Cho, whom you may know as ProZD online. Doctor Doom is leading a fighting team called the Knights of Doom, consisting of Doom himself, Carnage, Magneto, and Green Goblin.
Some plot details for the game have also been revealed: The Champion has come to Earth with his Promoter to herald the "Challenge of the Champion" tournament, for the fate of the planet. On Playstation Blog, it is also announced that there will be a hands-on demo at Evo 2026 in Las Vegas.

Rayman Legends: Retold
On the heels of Star Fox, another leak come true; Rayman Legends: Retold is a complete overhaul of the original Rayman Legends. Though discourse about the necessity of this remake will certainly be contentious, there's no denying that there's a charm to the new art style. For my part, I preferred the timeless hand drawn art style, and I'd have liked to see an older Rayman title get the remake treatment instead. However, I'm interested to see what this reimagining has to offer. Rayman Legends: Retold release on October 1st, 2026.

Bancho the Chef
A welcome surprise for fans of Dave the Diver, Bancho the Chef is a prequel to that game. I haven't played Dave the Diver yet myself, so I'm not qualified to editorialize on that aspect of it. In a vacuum, though, the trailer had style and looked like a really enjoyable romp about a man going to Japan to hone his cooking craft, with great music and a strong sense of humour. No release date yet, but Playstation Blog says they'll have more to reveal later this year.

Kemuri
It's always a good sign when Ikumi Nakamura hits the screen. Today, she took center stage - in the charming way that only she can - to unveil her new game Kemuri, developed by her studio Unseen. The game sees you hunting yokai in the eponymous Kemuri City, either by yourself or with two other friends in 3-player co-op. Forming contracts with yokai allows you to wield their powers by wearing their existence in the form of "Possession Apparel". By seeing through the "Fox Window" that your character makes with their hands, you can see the yokai realm, and fractures in the world.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
Lara Croft is back, baby! Crystal Dynamics and co-developer Flying Wild Hog are reviving Tomb Raider once more, with what appears to be a ground-up remake of the original PlayStation 1 classic, now on Unreal Engine 5. Legacy of Atlantis will release - with both Standard and Deluxe editions - on February 12, 2027 (Happy birthday to me!).

The Lost Wild
As I watched this trailer, I was thinking to myself, "Turok? Dino Crisis?" But no, The Lost Wild is an all new dinosaur survival game from developer Great Ape Games. According to PlayStation Blog, the goal is to create a scenario where the dinosaurs aren't necessarily evil or out to hunt humans for the love of the game. Rather, they're just animals acting on their instinct. With that in mind, you'll be able to test your survival instincts when The Lost Wild releases in 2027.

Phantom Blade 0
Honestly, I'd forgotten this one existed. But Sony hasn't given up on Phantom Blade 0, a game first revealed in 2023 - and first conceptualized as far back as 2017 - by developers at Chinese studio S-GAME. More slick action (this time involving a baby) was shown off, and S-GAME revealed that a "Gameplay & Story Deep Dive" will happen later this summer. Preorders are expected to open at this time as well. Phantom Blade 0 is scheduled for release October 29, 2026.

Dune Awakening
I love the Dune books, and on paper the idea of an open world Arrakis to explore should be appealing to me, but alas, Dune Awakening just doesn't look like my cup of tea. I'm not the only gamer out there, thankfully, and so certainly a lot of people will welcome the news that PS5 and Xbox Series on September 22, 2026.

Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered
Winning the award for Longest Title in Show, Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered will launch across all major platforms on October 1. Standard and Digital Deluxe editions including plenty of bonus content will be available for this latest entry in the Musou genre.

No Rest for the Wicked
Moon Studios, of Ori and the Blind Forest fame, offer something completely different with No Rest for the Wicked, an action RPG owing itself largely to the soulslike genre. I initially thought this was a new take on the Trine series, based on the art style, but I was quite wrong. I will be interested to see what will become of this studio's hard left turn in to fantasy action. No Rest for the Wicked is scheduled to go 1.0 in October.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Musashi's back with another stylish trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword. This is a game I don't need to see more trailers for. Luckily, I won't have to wait much longer for this Japanese fantasy action game, as Onimusha: Way of the Sword releases September 25, 2026 and is available in a Premium Deluxe Edition.

Silent Hill: Townfall
Silent Hill has been firing on all cylinders lately, and Townfall looks to continue the trend. Play as Simon as he tries to unravel the mysteries of the town of St. Amelia. Pre-orders start today on the PlayStation Store.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve/Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War
My buddy has been trying to get me to play these games for ages, and maybe there's no better time to experience the world of StrangeReal. Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve had another strong showing, and throwing in Ace Combat Zero as a pre-order bonus is a really excellent value add, and a way to get the uninitiated caught up. Wings of Theve takes off on October 2nd, 2026.

Stuntman: Hollywood
My eyes almost glazed over as I watched another car game unfold in front of my eyes, but then the action started getting more and more intense. I was pleasantly surprised, then, to see that this is in fact the return of the long dormant Stuntman series. Stuntman: Hollywood will have you get behind the wheel to perform daring stunts for action films, directly recreating sequences from movies like Fast & Furious, Back to the Future, and more. The game is available to be wishlisted starting today.

ILL
Now this looks like a zombie survival game with some teeth. The monsters look plenty scary, and the environments are interesting. There's a blink and you'll miss it shot of a zombie baby, which looks like it ought to be super gruesome. We'll have to wait a bit longer, unfortunately, as there's not yet a release date for this one.

Control Resonant
The latest entry into the Remedy Connected Universe, or RCU, Control Resonant is another game that I don't need to see any more trailers for. It looks weird and beautiful in all the right ways. We have a release date of September 24, thankfully.

Marathon Season 2: Nightfall
The next season of Bungie's incredibly popular Marathon is getting new content as part of its Season 2: Nightfall. A new zone, new shell, a ton of new gear, and much more will be available to players starting today. Today also is the beginning of an Open Play Week. The full game is available for anybody to play for free until June 9th.

Runescape Dragonwilds
Runescape Dragonwilds is the latest in an IP that refuses to die, in a good way. Dragonwilds is a departure from classic Runescape, being an open world survival game; it is also the first Runescape game to come to consoles. Runescape Dragonwilds releases later in 2026.

Classics Catalog Updates
It wouldn't be a State of Play without a quick word on what's coming to PlayStation Plus. Gitaroo Man, Psi Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy, and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams were all announced to join the Plus catalog.
Until Dawn 2
Until Dawn is getting a beach episode in 2027! This trailer finds an all new cast of characters on a tropic island to film a ghost-hunting show of sorts. But certainly the scares will become all too real.

God of War: Laufey
Ever since Ragnarok's ending, I found myself wondering how the God of War story could continue without feeling inorganic to the characters and their journeys. Well, I have my answer. Death isn't the end in the world of God of War. Take control of Kratos' late love Faye in the Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods themselves. Portrayed by Deborah Ann Woll, Laufey is sure to be a commanding on screen presence as she seeks to ensure her plans to protect her family in the living world remain in place. She's also accompanied by, um, a gelatinous cube voiced by Jack Quaid. So there's that. No release date yet, but it's available to wishlist!

And that's that! I'd say there's a lot of good gaming to be done by PlayStation fans in the near and far future! What's your take on Sony's summer State of Play presentation? Join us on Discord and sound off!
